Gordon Wood Action for Alleged Malicious Prosecution by the NSW Government commenced in the NSW Supreme Court Today
There is a small news item on page 2 of today's The Australian advising that Gordon Wood's legal action against the NSW Government begins in the NSW Supreme Court today, Monday 20 February 2017. Mr Wood was acquitted in 2012 after serving three years in jail for allegedly throwing his girlfriend Caroline Byrne off Sydney suicide spot The Gap in June 1995.

Application for special leave to appeal in the 1971 South Australian murder case of Frits Van Beelen will be heard by the High Court today in Adelaide. The case could assist in the interpretation of futher right to appeal cases. Further right to appeal legislation currently exists in only South Australia and Tasmania.
Have just finished reading a very insightful book on Roger Rogerson ("The Dodger") by former NSW Police detective Duncan McNab (Roger Rogerson: From Decorated Policeman to Convicted Criminal - The Inside Story Hachette Australia 2016). I know Duncan from my policing days with the NSW Police in the 1980's. (We also both had the opportunity of working at the Mona Vale police station on Sydney's Northern Beaches).
Just read a book review by Dr James Robertson in the latest Australian Journal of Forensic Sciences 2017 Vol.49 No.2 234-235.
